Auberge Sundgovienne, previously the Baerenhütte, has been run by the Keller family for three generations. Since 1997, Véronique, the granddaughter and her husband Jean Bernard Hermann, welcome you to the contemporary settings of the hotel, bathed in natural light with its wide windows among stunning natural surroundings. The restaurant in Carspach, easy to access on the road between Basel and Belfort, is a must-visit gourmet destination in Southern Alsace.


The chef and his team serve a fine, creative cuisine, drawing inspiration from traditional dishes and the best of seasonal, local produce: fresh game, fish, mushrooms, vegetables, fruit... To give you an idea: home made duck foie gras, sea bream or turbot a la plancha with seasonal vegetables, Angus beef fillet... not to mention a selection of mouth-watering desserts.


The restaurant is closed from Sunday night to Tuesday lunch.


Jean-Bernard Hermann

Maître Restaurateur

After being awarded a CAP-BEP at Guebwiller hotel school in 1980, Jean-Bernard Hermann trained with Pierre Gaertnerthe at the Armes de France in Ammerschwihr (2 Michelin stars) before joining Pierre Roger as a line cook at L’Hostellerie de Pont-Sainte-Marie in Troyes (1 Michel star), L’Auberge de l’Ill in Illhaeusern (3 Michelin stars), and Alain Chapel in Mionnay (3 Michelin stars). He served as chef at the Clos des Délices in Ottrot before becoming the happy owner of the Auberge Sundgovienne, alongside Véronique, in 1997.

Jean-Bernard Hermann has been awarded the coveted distinction of Maître Restaurateur.

A bright, contemporary atmosphere, with warm, red tones and views of the verdant surroundings, leafy terraces at the front and back, a lounge with its central fireplace to gather round... like the dishes, the restaurant room is refined and colourful.

In this dream location, sample a varied cuisine with a Daily Menu (from Tuesday dinner to Saturday lunch included, except Friday dinner) or feel free to try out a more elaborate menu.
